Lewes resident Patricia Rivera, founder and CEO of Hook PR & Marketing, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Local Journalism Initiative (LJI).
Rivera was a founding member of the LJI board 2021-2022, and she is returning after a two-year hiatus.
“I’ve had the opportunity to see LJI grow from a passionate idea to a nonprofit that deeply resonates with diverse people from all walks of life,” Rivera said. “As a former journalist, I want to stay connected to the organization and help lead efforts to engage readers and redefine how we cover local news in Delaware.”
As the CEO of Hook, Rivera provides high-level counsel to organizations throughout the mid-Atlantic – building their brands with strategic stories and content across multiple channels and in multiple languages. She founded Hook PR & Marketing in 2007 after an award-winning career in journalism, working for The New York Times, The Dallas Morning News, and The News Journal. Rivera received the Entrepreneurial Woman of the Year Award from New Castle County Chamber of Commerce and the Delaware Minority-Owned Business of the Year Award from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
Rivera’s combination of experience in journalism, entrepreneurship, and multilingual multicultural marketing will help LJI build a stronger local news ecosystem that effectively reaches and serves Delaware’s diverse communities, LJI Founder and CEO Allison Taylor Levine said.
“Patricia’s deep love for Delaware and her expertise in reaching diverse audiences will help us advance our work to engage more Delawareans, to hear and lift their voices and stories, to connect them with resources, and to empower them to participate in our democracy and community,” Levine said.
LJI operates several programs, including Spotlight Delaware, the collaborative, community-powered, nonprofit newsroom. To learn more about Spotlight Delaware and become a Founding Member, visit spotlightdelaware.org/support.
