Journalists Joining Forces for Delaware

What would happen if local news outlets pooled their resources, worked together to help the community understand important local challenges, and began leading conversations about addressing those problems?

That’s the goal of the new Delaware Journalism Collaborative.

LJI and the Solutions Journalism Network have been working with more than 25 partners throughout the state – including dozens of newspapers, radio and TV stations, and online-only news resources, plus our libraries and universities – to create the DJC.

In early 2022, the partners in the Collaborative selected polarization as the issue to focus on for the next two years. The Collaborative reports on and engages communities throughout Delaware on issues of racial, politicial, geographic and other types of polarization that divide us and advance solutions for how we can work together more effectively.

Collaborating to strengthen communities

During 2022-2024, the Collaborative partners is performing in-depth journalism to report on the selected challenge and possible solutions, arming the community with nonpartisan, independent data, information and ideas.

Throughout the two-year project, the Collaborative is bringing together community leaders – public officials, activists, philanthropists, faith leaders and others who care about Delaware – for community conversations about how Delaware can effectively address the challenges examined by the Collaborative.

Media collaboratives around the country are working effectively to benefit their communities – find out about the impact of the collaboratives in Philadelphia, Charlotte and New Hampshire.
